Japanese Player Spends Four Years Building “Mai-gami Prefecture,” a Japanese Countryside in Minecraft

A Japanese Minecraft player, ハッカ (@hakkahakka0518), has spent four years constructing a Japanese-style rural area named “Mai-gami Prefecture” within the game. Its level of detail is comparable to real-life photographs, sparking widespread discussion among global players.

The project began on a flat, empty world and has now developed into a fictional administrative division with complete infrastructure. ハッカ has not only accurately recreated the Japanese countryside’s fields, villages, utility poles, factories, and railways but is also dedicated to creating a “livable” organic world—from snow protection devices on rooftops to buildings and farmland with different functions, every detail embodies astonishing dedication.

Despite the astonishing quality of the work, ハッカ has only about 3,000 subscribers on YouTube, and his influence spreads primarily through social media. In March 2024, a tweet about the project garnered over 1.83 million views and 49,000 likes, with users marveling at its incredibly realistic textures.
